TV anonymous...

My name is Tricia, and I’m a TV-holic! Wow, that feels so much better. It feels good to get that out of the way.

I always knew that I enjoyed a good show every now and then, and friends have always joked at how HIGH “up” I am on current “TV” affairs, but I’ve never thought much about it.

Today, I hit rock bottom, and came face to face with the level of my addiction. How? You may ask… well here’s the tale:

Since I moved into my apartment two years ago I’ve had free cable, probably left over from a previous tenant. Free cable has been good to me. It has allowed me to keep up with some of my favorite shows; the Amazing Race, Alias, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy... and... well... I digress.

A few days ago I came home, fully intending to plop myself down in front of the boob tube, and begin what would be an evening of relaxation. The Gods, however, had something else in store for me; every channel I went to had fuzz, grayish, horrible, hissing fuzz.

DENIAL: "This isn’t happening. This can’t be happening! It’s probably just an outage" (with calming breaths I walk away for a few minutes, come back, and turn the TV on again. Still grey fuzz). "This CAN’T be HAPPENING!!!" (repeat above process 4 times)

ANGER: How the #$#!% can this happen on a %#$*$@ing Sunday. *#*^@!ing cable! (shouted while violently un-plugging and re-plugging the cable connection)

BARGAINING: "I promise I’ll watch less TV if you just put it back on!"

DEPRESSION: (Head held in hands...) "Why is this happening to me"

ACCEPTANCE: ....................................... (I'm not exactly there yet) "all I need is one hit to get me through the night"

Can you believe that I went through the 5 stages of grief! All because of television! I've got some serious, serious problems...

I must be pinksandroses long lost twin.

DAMN GOOD selction there, although watching Great White Sharks on Animal Planet is REALLY what I wanna watch most days.

Mostly because it gives me hope that ONE DAY, we can throw the SUPER stupid and irritating people in there with them.

OH UTOPIA!

Hello, my name is Seema and I too am a tv-aholic. I got hooked on OC halfway through this season and realized I need to see the episodes I missed... So my summer luxury has been to watch every single episode of the OC - and good lord how much do I love that show?? More importantly - I LOVE SETH. If one of you find Seth, please pass him over here. I don't mean to cause problems for those addicted ones out there... but here's a little gem for you all. www.spoilerfix.com. DON'T SHARE UNLESS ASKED & EXERCISE CAUTION!!!

I'm all about reality shows right now... So You Think You Can Dance, Venus & Serena For Real, Laguna Beach-The Real O.C., and Being Bobby Brown . I wanted to get into Real World Austin, cause I live in Austin, but the cast this year is stupid. Scrubbs and The OC are my scripted favorites.

aww tricia! This same thing happened to us...we had free cable for 2 years when one day it just suddenly turned off...and we really didn't want to spend $50 to get it put back on...also we were afraid that they would try to charge us back-pay for having it for free for so long.

my favs: alias, lost, simpsons

I was lucky enough to have free cable the last three years I lived in Kentucky, but I've never been so blessed since then. I realized how much I missed it when I just went two weeks at the new house without it, and I didn't think I watched much TV.

TO all of you: I'm sooooo glad that I'm not alone in my love of TV. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming; (sniff,sniff...) I might just be able to conquer my demons yet! :)
