Tunnel Love

I was on the subway recently (on my way to work) engrossed in my Educational Psych textbook (Ok, more bored than engrossed...) I was studying for the impending doom that was to be my exam. I sat there minding my own business, when I got the feeling that someone was staring at me. I looked up in time to catch this old decrepit man seated beside me, looking longingly in my direction. Somehow he took my, quick sidelong glance (my friend Ryan would call it cut-eye), as an invitation of some sort. He began, quite tamely, by complimenting my earrings (which if I do say so myself are rather fetching). I politely replied thank you and looked back down at my book, feigning complete interest in its contents. Somehow this enticed him to compliment me further. My "beautiful" braids came next... He continued on and I continued to ignore him, until he told me that we could be friends or he could "take care of me". At first I was confused and imagined that he was part of some weird "old guy" mafia; meaning that I'd soon be sleeping with the fishes. But as it turned out, all he wanted to do was become my "sugar-daddy". Well I guess at his age it would have been my "sugar-granddaddy". Anyway, as much as I could have used the "infinite" finances, I turned him down. Oddly enough he didn't look too put out by my rejection, as I'm sure he makes this particular request to many young ladies throughout the day. Only after he got up to leave did I begin to wonder why a man, who had to take the subway, thought that he would have enough money to take care of me?! Ah, maybe he was just senile!

Nice, REAL nice Tricia, I never get the sugar daddy old men, only the gross, unwashed, side of the street men who whistle or tell me how pretty I am. Sometimes I get lucky and a stylish gay man tells me how good I look, THAT is when I swoon.

Just wanted to tell you I'm here...chekcing in regularly on the world of trisha...

And by the way...I get the big black guys with gold teeth who seem to think that 'psst' is an effective way to pick up a girl...

Subway old men are the worst... there's such a fine line between polite disinterest and death looks.

Lexie - at least you get the psst, I got the arm grab last time... sick.

My mother always said to appreciate your FANS, whomever they might be, for one day you will wake up and they will be few and far between!

Sorry MiWk, my mom taught me things like "Never give shoes as a gift. It's bad luck" and "Always... always walk into a house backwards if you are entering after midnight"
